Few salmon that River Vatnsdalsá is known for

River Vatnsdalsa is known for its large salmon here in Iceland. Since 1997 the major salmon beats of the river has been fished by fly only and all fish will be released back into the river. The policy of C&R has helped the river to produce a larger proportion of large salmon, that is common here in Iceland. In september each year, many salmon that range from 90-110 sm, is caught. Here you can see few salmons that river Vatnsdalsa is known for.

Opening of the salmon season 2013

The start of the salmon season in Iceland has been very strong this summer and things are looking good. In Thvera/Kjarta the opening group landed over 50 salmon in Three days and In Laxa in Kjos River, 20 salmon was caught in 1,5 days. Simular stories can be told all over the country. First salmon of the season

First salmon of the season in Iceland was caught 3 minutes into the season. Two Rivers, Blanda and Nordura, opens today. The Angler, Bjarni Juliusson, caught this salmon on Frances Tube fly. It was 72 cm long and was released back into the river.
