Lake Thingvallavatn – Big Brown Trout

The brown trout in Lake Þingvallavatn, whose origin can be traced to Britain, has long been one of the most talked-about freshwater fish in Iceland - and abroad. The brown trout's fame is based primarily on its large size and great numbers. After it became isolated in Þingvallavatn in the wake of the last ice age, living conditions proved beneficial, and it was found in many populations all over the lake.

New on anglers.is – Svarta River

New river here on Anglers.is is River Svarta (Black River). There are few rivers in Iceland that is called "Svarta". This one is famous for its Brown Trout. It is located in North-west Iceland, about 280 km from Reykjavik City. Svarta is fished with 4 rods and is a fly only river. A great Brown trout river. The size of the trout range from 30-68 cm. New on anglers.is – River Laxa í Dölum

River Laxa in Dölum is one of the best salmon river in Iceland. The average catch pr. rod is among the highest in Iceland. Laxa is only fished with 4-6 rods. It is about 25 km long so anglers have lot of space for them selves. The Laxa river in Dölum is a medium sized river with a fair volume of fish and numerous multi-winter salmons are caught every year.

The angling season 2013 – pictures – Do you want to fish in Iceland in 2014?

This angling season has been great here in Iceland. Salmon fishing has been excellent and many rivers has had a record summer. Over all, this summer is among the best we have had in salmon fishing. This season has also been very good in trout and Charr fishing. It has been a rainy summer so the water level has been very good.
