Eldvatn River
Where: About 270 km from Reykjavik, about 15min drive from town Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Numer of Rods: Fished with 6 rods – Fly only
Prime Time: Spring – April 20-30th and 20th of August to 15th of October.
About the river: 25 km long, fished on both banks. There are many good pools in the river, both marked and unmarked.
Flies to use: Streamers like Black Ghost, Gray Ghost, Dyrbitur and other similar flies.
Lodge: Very good self catering lodge that accommodated up to 16 people. The lodge is located on the banks of Eldvatn. It was opened in 2009. 8 double rooms, each with a private bathroom.
River Eldvatn is a great Sea Trout river in the south part of Iceland. The river is situated in a area that is not only known for great fishing rivers, but also volcanos such as Mount Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull. River Eldvatn is one of the best Sea Trout rivers in Iceland. In each year number of Sea trout that range from 5-7 kg are caught. Allthough Sea trout is the main species, number of salmon and arctic char are caught every summer.
