The start of the salmon season in Iceland has been very strong this summer and things are looking good. In Thvera/Kjarta the opening group landed over 50 salmon in Three days and In Laxa in Kjos River, 20 salmon was caught in 1,5 days. Simular stories can be told all over the country. Lake Thingvallavatn opened up for anglers on the first of May. The first few days has been great for those who has been fishing for trout in the lake. Some great bown trout has been caught and here are few of them.
Huseyjakvisl River are known for very big sea trout - one of the monsters was caught yesterday. Straumfjardara is a salmon river located on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in the West Iceland. With water supplied from two mountain lakes and smaller springs along its run, coming together in a riverbed of 12 km which is accessible for the salmon to run in to and spawn, as well as char and sea trout in the lower part of the river.
