Fishing in Iceland – Our fishing season here in Iceland, has been quite good this year. The weather has not been the anglers best friend, but never the less we have had many great fishing days. Most of our favourite rivers have been fishing very well. Here you can find short report of few of them:

River West Ranga – Fishing at West Ranga was good from the start. Bigger fish came early and then, around 20th of July, smaller salmon, 4-6 pounds, arrived. We are no up to around 6.000 salmon at West Ranga

River Nordura – Nordura had a good season, even though water leverl got quite low after middle of July. Total catch number at Nordura was 1.719 salmon, approx. 400 more than last year.

River Svarta – Fishing was very good at Svarta this summer. Many big fish were caught and many anglers left the river, after they had caught their biggest trout ever. Below you can find  Video from a visit from 2 anglers to rive Svarta this summer.

River Reykjadalsa – Fishing at Reykjadalsa river was good this season. Lot of good size trout was caught and also some bigger fish. After middle of July, we started catching some salmon as well. Great river if you want to catch lot of fish.

River Myrarkvisl – For the first few weeks of the season, fishing at Myrarkvisl was all about trout, and lot of trout. We had some groups on Myrarkvisl that did very well, mostly with Dry flies and nymphs. We recommend this river for June and early July, if you are looking for Trout. Salmon fishing kicked into gear at Myrarkvisl river after middle of August.

River Holaa – Fishing at Holaa was great this summer. Holaa was packed with arctic char, both small and bigger fish. We also had some trout there. Fishing for char can be challenging but when you find the right fly, it can be very rewarding. Great river for day tours.
