The fishing season begins on the 1st of April in Iceland and lasts until beginning of October – In April the focus is on Sea trout and Brown trout fishing – In May we see mostly Brown trout fishing, in both rivers and lakes – In June there are still mostly Trout fishing but the first arctic char arrrives and so do the first Atlantic salmon. The first salmon river opens in beginning of june and the latest opens in the middle of July – From 10th of July and to the 20th of Augst is the prime time for fresh salmon and also for dry fly Trout fishing – Late July the first Sea trout arrives to the rivers again – From 20th of July to the end of August is often the best time to fish for Arctic char but it can be fished from the end of May to the mid of september – In september the sea trout are very active and strong runs pour into the sea trout rivers – Most salmon rivers closes around 20th of september.
