Salmon season here in Iceland start in beginning of June, each year. Few rivers open in beginning of June, but most of the rivers open either late June or early July. Here in Iceland we have detailed statistic from nearly all salmon rivers. For many rivers we have information that goes back for 30-40 years. We have info about total number of fish caught, average size and even more info from some rivers. In south Iceland we have 2 rivers that have stood out, in total number of salmon caught in recent years. That is West Ranga and East Ranga. Salmon caught in those 2 rivers accumulate to approx. 25% of all salmon caught in Iceland, in a normal season.

Of those 2 rivers mentioned, East Ranga is known for bigger salmon. Larger salmon arrive usually early each year and for the first few weeks, approx. 80-90% of fish caught are salmon in the range of 10-22 pounds. We have availability at both those rivers for next season and for East Ranga we have availability in late June. During that period last season over 650 large salmon were caught. This is a great opportunity for those looking for the trophy salmon. Just contact us for more information.
