Vatnsa River
Vatnsa river is a small nicely formed river the flows through a beautiful valley for about 3 km, before running into a glacier river Kerlingadalsa. Vatnsa holds lot of Nice pools. It depends on the season, if fish tend to stop and stay in river, or run up to the lake. This is one of very few rivers in Iceland where you can in 1 day, catch all 4 freshwater species in Iceland – Salmon, Sea Trout, Arctic char and Brown Trout.
Vatnsa river runs out of Lake Heidarvatn, that is for sure one of Iceland best lakes for fishing.
At Vatnsa we fish with 2-3 rods per day and it is Fly Only.
