West Ranga – record opening day – best salmon river in Iceland

First day of the salmon season in West Ranga in Iceland was today. In total, 35 salmon was caught and is that a record for first day of a season. West Ranga is Fly only until beginning of Sept. Most of the salmon that was caught was in the size from 72-82 cm. Biggest salmon was 92 cm. If you want to come to Iceland to fish in West Ranga, we have still few rods available. Fishing in Iceland in 2015 – great pics

Fishing season is well on it´s way here in Iceland. First salmon rivers opend last week and finally summer have arrived. Many anglers comes from abroad to Iceland each summer to fish for Brown trout, char and salmon. Last week, 3 anglers from Switzerland came to Iceland to fish for Brown trout and Char. Here below we can see few pics from the 4 days they were fishing. they fished river Varma, River Minnivallalaekur and river Svarta. Angler on the pics is Udo Oppliger.

Salmon season starts on June 5th

Salmon season will start tomorrow, 5th of June, here in Iceland. 2 big rivers, river Nordura and river Blanda are the first to open. Most rivers opens in the end of June. Salmon season stretches into October. We have still few days available at some good, full service and self catering rivers here in Iceland. If you want more info, just send us an email.

Good start to the 2015 angling season in Iceland

Now we are all ready 3 weeks into the 2015 angling season here in Iceland. In April anglers are specially aiming for sea trout, brown trout and local char. Rivers like Varma and tungulaekur have been very good. Weather have been rather cold and that have affected the start of some river. 2 days ago, fishing started at lake thingvellir. Anglers have been catching brown trout in sizes from 2-8kg. and we will for sure, see some that is over 10 kg.

2015 angling season is starting in Iceland

In just one week on 1st of April, 2015 angling season is starting here in Iceland. that day, many Brown trout, sea trout and Char rivers opens. two of those rivers are River Varma and River Minnivallalaekur, 2 great trout rivers. Both are within 1 hour drive from Reykjavik. Fishing in those rivers tends to be good, more or less, through out the season.
