West Ranga salmon fishing – First few weeks of the salmon season here in Iceland have been very good. Fishing started at few rivers in beginning of June, but fishing starts at most rivers in the end of June. First day of fishing at West Ranga Salmon river was yesterday. Weather was not good, but anglers managed to land 23 salmon during the day. Good number of fish are now in the river, and we can expect bigger runs of fish coming West Ranga salmon fishingup the river in coming days.
From the start of the season, until beginning of September, West Ranga is a fly only river. In September anglers can also fish with spinner and worm.
West Ranga is the number one salmon river in Iceland if we look at total number of salmon caught pr. season. On average approx. 7.350 salmon pr. season over the last 10 years.
