Do you want to fish under the big waterfall that was featured in the final episode of season 5 of Stranger Things? We can take you fishing there.
The waterfall in question is Háifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest and most powerful falls, dropping some 122 meters into the rugged Þjórsárdalur valley in the Highlands. Its neighboring sister fall, Granni, enhances the dramatic scene, making it a popular natural landmark for hikers and photographers. River Fossa is the River, approximately 120 km from Reykjavik.
Even if Háifoss was inspired by the landscapes of Stranger Things or simply captured fan imaginations, the question remains: can you fish below a waterfall like that?
Yes, Waterfall Háifoss is one of our main trout and salmon destinations in south Iceland each season. River Fossa is a private river like all rivers in Iceland. River Fossa is split into 2 beats or areas. The upper part is nearly 15 km long, from Háifoss waterfall at the top and down to Hjalparfoss below. The lower part is much shorter, only 1.5km long. It is mainly a salmon area.
We offer both guided and self guided trips to River Fossa. Contact us if you are interested in fishing under Waterfall Háifoss, river Fossa or in Iceland in general.
