First day of the salmon season was yesterday here in Iceland – First river to “open” was a glacier river Thjorsa. 18 salmon were caught on 4 rods over the first day. At the same time fish were spotted at few other rivers in south Iceland. Rivers like East Ranga and Holsa. In recent days we have also heard news that salmon have been spotted in various rives in west Iceland, even though there are still few days until some of them open.

This week Rivers like Nordura and Blanda will open and later also River Thvera, Kjarra, Straumar, East Ranga and West Ranga.

We have still some days available at some of the best salmon rivers in Iceland. Check out dates over here.
