Brown Trout fishing in Iceland in 2018 – Here in Iceland we have many great rivers that hold brown trout, both small and big fish. Some of them are better known than others. Sometimes because they hold Big fish and sometimes because they have lot of fish. Upper Laxa, or Fremri Laxa, is one of the rivers that are known for lot of Brown Trout. We have few days available at Upper Laxa next season.

Upper Laxa is located in north west part of Iceland, approx. 250 km from Reykjavik. Upper Laxa is fished with max 3 rods pr. day and it is only fished with Fly. Anglers can keep some fish, if they want, but most of the fish is released back into the river. Average number of fish that are caught each year is close to 5.000. Many fish are in the range of 1 – 2 pounds but we have also good number of fish up to 4-5 pounds. Upper Laxa is connected to 2 lakes and the upper lake ensures that water level at the river stays good.

Anglers can choose when, during the day/night, they fish but in total you can fish 12 hours each 24 hours. Anglers can choose if they stay at a old but charming river cabin, or rent a bigger and newer house just 2 minutes from the River. It is possible to get full service in the area.

For 2018 season we have few days available in June, July and August. We can easily set up a trip for you that would include upper Laxa and 2-3 other rivers as well. Just let us know what kind of trip you are looking for, and we will set it up for you. Many anglers wants the chance to catch arctic char as well and also some trophy trout in Iceland. We can help you make that dream come true.
