Location: approx 135 km from Reykjavik. South Iceland

Nr. of Rods: 2 rods pr. day

About river: approx 3 km long with about 20 pools.

Lodge: no lodge.

Season: From April 1st – 20th of October.

Galtalaekur river is a tributary of West Ranga river. This gin clear trout stream is very sensitive but it produces some of Iceland biggest trout, up to 12 pounds. Galtalaekur is a catch and release river with only 2 rods , the stream runs 3 km and has 20 beautiful pools- perfect for day tour fishing from Reykjavik.

Galtalaekur is a great river to fish with either small, heavy nymps or dry flies.
