Average catch pr. year: In beat Spoastadir the average catch is close to 300 arctic char and 20 salmon each year.
Season: April 1. – sept 20.
The lodge: There is no accommodation in Bruara. It is fished from morning to evening.

More about Brúará River

Bruara is the second largest clear water river in Iceland. It runs over 44 km until it emerge whith Hvita River. There are many beats in Bruara and each sell fishing license seperately. The main attraction in Bruara is the arctic char but there ar also few salmon caught each summer.

Spoastadir is probably the most popular beat in Bruara. It has a fantastic 2-3 km whith plenty of pools and lot of char, but it is said that the char in Bruara can be “hard to get”. The most popular method is upstream fishing and there are few nymph patterns that work better than other. It is best to fish the river with experience angler for the first couble of times, if you want to get the most out of the trip.
