About the area

Vatnamotin area are maybe the best sea trout area in Iceland, with between 1.200 and 1.800 sea trout caught each season. Vatnamotin is a junction area where both a glacier river and clear water rivers come to gether – it is only few km from the sea.

Spring and autumn is the main time for Vatnamotin. We catch many fish between 5 and 12 pounds in this area and few as big as 20 pounds. Anglers need to wade in a sandy bottom to cover this area that is mostly fished with streamers, but also nymphs. Rods, #6-7 are good for this area, weight forward lines. Sink tips are often used. Dbl handed rods can also come in handy to cover water.

Vatnamotin area is a wide, big area and anglers sometimes need to cover some water to find the fish – they often stay in channels and sometimes in big groups.
