Where is the best Sea Trout river in the World located? Is it situated in Argentina or maybe in Iceland. River Tungulaekur in Iceland is a good candidate for the nomination, at least if the number of fish caught over three pounds pr. rod, sets the criteria.

River Tungulaekur is fished with maximum 4 rods at a time. It is Fly only and all fish must be released back into the river. Fishing in Tungulaekur is usually good from the start on the 1st of april until 20th of October but the Prime time is in early spring and in the Autumn, August-October. In the Prime it is not unusual for a Angler to catch from 15 – 30 Trout/sea Trout/Salmon/Char, pr. day in the size range 1,5-8kg. The Record Trout caught in Tungulaekur river was 14 kilos.

When fishing in Tungulaekur you better be prepared to get your flies near the bottom. Fast sinking lines or sinking tips could do the trick.
