About Lake Apavatn

Apavatn is a lake in southwest Iceland, little bit over one hour from Reykjavik. With a surface area of around 13 km2 it is much larger than the neighbouring lake of Laugarvatn, which lies to the north of Apavatn.

Apavatn is renowned for its good fishing, especially trout but also little bit of Char. Size of trout are mostly between 1 and 2 pounds, but bigger fish can be found. Fishing with Streamers or spinning gear is productive, but nymphs and dry flies as well when we come into the summer.

Lake Apavatn is relatively shallow and on windy days, it can color up but it quickly clears up, when wind comes down.
