Litla River in Kelduhverfi is a springfed river that originally only came from a source called Brunnar, nearby the farm Keldunes. From the year 1976 it also gets water from the lake Skjalftavatn that was formed by a massive eartquake and subsidence during the Krafla eruption in 1976.

Litlaá in Kelduhverfi is divided into 6 areas and the entire riverbank is accessible to the limited number of 5 rods at any one time.

There is no fishing lodge at the riverside but many farmers in the vicinity offer self catering lodges and lodges where full service is provided.

Accomodations: The guesthouse Keldunes offers several fully furnished cottages, each with a private bathroom. In the guesthous are 6 fully equipped double rooms with made up beds, a common bathroom with showers, a nice dining room, a TV sitting room, and excellend conditions for both outdor and indor cooking. There is also an outdoor hot tub available for all guests.

The abnormally high water temperature of approximately 12°C is derived from the combination of the warm source from Brunnar and the cold water from the lake, joining to produce the superb water qualities that supports what is arguably the best stocked sea trout river in Iceland. The river also has a fine stock of stationary brown trout and some arctic char. There is also a good chance to catch a salmon later on in the season.

The largest sea trout ever caught in Iceland weighing in at 23 lbs. was taken in Litlaa during the 2004 season. People say that some sea trouts of that size always stay in the river.
